The MI is a Smart plug equipped with WiFi connectivity designed to interact with the entire range of Maindrop taps.
With a single MI per home, it enables all Maindrop taps to communicate and control any model of circulating pump on the market, allowing them to have the capacity to supply hot water at the temperature requested by the user from the start of the supply, avoiding wasting a single drop of water beforehand.
What role does the circulating pump play?
Installed in the water supply inlet connection of domestic hot water (DHW) production systems, when the user requests hot water, it receives the order from the MI to push the hot water towards the requesting tap while, simultaneously, the cold water occupying the hot water pipe is moved back towards the boiler/heater, thus avoiding wasting water while waiting for the hot water to reach the tap in question.
This is possible thanks to the complementarity and communication between MI and Maindrop taps, which allows for the generation of ephemeral and discriminated loops between the DHW production systems (boilers, heaters, accumulators, etc.) and the taps when they request hot water.
In homes equipped with a dedicated return line, simply connecting the MI to the socket that supplies the return recirculation pump will ensure that all Maindrop taps at home can supply hot water from the first moment of supply, exponentially reducing energy consumption since the recirculation pump will only be activated when a tap requests hot water, and will be deactivated when the hot water reaches the tap in question.
- The main manufacturers on the market offer a wide range of circulating pump models to adapt to the needs and dimensions of each home. It is necessary to obtain advice on the appropriate model for each water network.
- In the case of homes equipped with smart boilers with an integrated DHW circulating pump and WiFi connectivity, it will not be necessary to install the MI and the circulating pump, the Maindrop taps will interact directly with the boiler.
